Redesigned SecuraSpan Horizontal Lifeline System Improves Jobsite Fall Protection
February 26, 2010
Capital Safety, home of the DBI-SALA and PROTECTA brands of fall protection equipment, recently announces the introduction of the new and improved SecuraSpan horizontal lifeline system, the industry's most widely known temporary horizontal lifeline for fall protection in the construction industry.
For complete jobsite versatility, the system incorporates a modular multi-base design that accommodates a wide range of steel and concrete beam sizes. The interchangeable bases are ideal for steel I-beam, concrete rebar and shear stud, and concrete loop rebar applications. For added flexibility, the system can be configured in either single-span or multi-span lengths, depending upon the clearance below the work area and overall length needed.
For longer multi-span systems, a bypass kit is available that adds bypass capabilities to standard stanchions for 100 percent tie-off at all times. The bypass provides added safety by allowing the user to pass the stanchion without needing to disconnect from the lifeline. In the event of a fall, the integrated Zorbit energy absorber limits fall arrest forces exerted on the worker to safe levels and protects the structure.
SecuraSpan systems are extremely user-friendly. The system is lightweight and portable for easy handling, installation and storage. During installation, adjustments are made above the beam for added safety and productivity, and by accommodating multiple anchorage types, the SecuraSpan system maximizes companies' investment in fall protection equipment.
"This new modular multi-base design makes the SecuraSpan system extremely versatile," says Mike Brandt, product manager with Capital Safety. "By using the same stanchion for a variety of bases, companies can maximize their investment in fall protection equipment, and provide added safety and productivity for their workers."
